Scalable Quantum Memory Nodes Using Nuclear Spins in Silicon Carbide

نویسندگان

چکیده

A distributed quantum network requires versatile and high-fidelity memory nodes, but it remains challenging to make them scalable. This study investigates the use of multiple controllable memories in silicon carbide---an established semiconductor material platform for various technology applications---and provides a viable solution. The authors show that solid-state spins carbide are ideal computing network, wherein controlled generation highly coherent qubit registers using nuclear is possible. will impact future development networks with solid states as memories.

Polarizing Nuclear Spins in Silicon Carbide

Quantum computers and other quantum information processing (QIP) devices—such as simulators, sensors, and communication channels—hold the promise to deliver performances not attainable by classical systems. Unfortunately, the qubits used to store information are usually fragile and difficult to manipulate and engineer, thus forestalling advances in the field. Many qubit candidates suffer from s...

Optical Polarization of Nuclear Spins in Silicon Carbide.

We demonstrate optically pumped dynamic nuclear polarization of (29)Si nuclear spins that are strongly coupled to paramagnetic color centers in 4H- and 6H-SiC. The 99%±1% degree of polarization that we observe at room temperature corresponds to an effective nuclear temperature of 5  μK. By combining ab initio theory with the experimental identification of the color centers' optically excited st...

Quantum decoherence dynamics of divacancy spins in silicon carbide

Long coherence times are key to the performance of quantum bits (qubits). Here, we experimentally and theoretically show that the Hahn-echo coherence time of electron spins associated with divacancy defects in 4H-SiC reaches 1.3 ms, one of the longest Hahn-echo coherence times of an electron spin in a naturally isotopic crystal. Using a first-principles microscopic quantum-bath model, we find t...

Nuclear Spins as Quantum Memory in Semiconductor Nanostructures

We theoretically consider the possibility of using solid state nuclear spins in a semiconductor nanostructure environment as long-lived quantum memory. In particular, we calculate, in the limit of a strong applied magnetic field, the quantum coherence time for P donor nuclear spins in random bath environments of Si and GaAs, and the lifetime of excited intrinsic spins in polarized Si and GaAs e...

Long-lived quantum memory with nuclear atomic spins.

We propose to store nonclassical states of light into the macroscopic collective nuclear spin (10(18) atoms) of a 3He vapor, using metastability exchange collisions. These collisions, commonly used to transfer orientation from the metastable state 2 3S1 to the ground state of 3He, can also transfer quantum correlations. This gives a possible experimental scheme to map a squeezed vacuum field st...
